Spring Blossoms
To you, my thinking partner
Spring is my favourite season. Every year I hope for endless sunshine—despite living in Dublin! I love the longer days, the sense of spaciousness they bring, and the beautiful cherry blossoms in my back garden.
What about you? Which season speaks to you most—and why?
Thought for today/ A reason to Smile
A friend invited me to join her table at the annual Ballet Ireland lunch in the Merrion Hotel. It was a gorgeous afternoon—an intimate ballet recital followed by a wonderful keynote from British Ambassador Paul Johnston.
Our table was a mix of friends and clients, and one woman recommended a short, fun book—Three Days in June by Anne Tyler. Just like last month’s reads, it’s light, joyful, and a perfect break from the turbulent news cycle.
Insights & Inspiration
Seeing with Fresh Eyes
My youngest daughter has taken to learning Japanese with Duolingo (somehow easier than Irish, apparently!). She may not yet have come across the Japanese word Shoshin, meaning “beginner’s mind”—a Zen concept of openness, curiosity, and freedom from preconceptions.
I was reminded of this during a trip to Paris with my eldest daughter, who just turned 16. I’ve always loved Paris, having spent a few student summers there. But seeing it again through her beginner’s mind was magical.
She loved the city’s youthful energy, its relaxed pace, and especially the street cafés where you sit side-by-side, watching the world go by.
Her reflections reminded me:
Sometimes clarity comes from looking outward, not inward.
Side-by-side conversations can feel more relaxed and open.
Returning to something familiar with fresh eyes can spark joy or insight.
Building Habits That Stick
It's often easier to spot the change someone else needs than to make our own. In this house, Monday dinners are full of veggies… and by Thursday, not so much.
Last week, a friend shared his routine after a health scare: he now starts each day with four non-negotiables—teeth, shower, stretch, meditate.
“If I’m leaving the house at 8,” he said, “I start my routine at 7.” Simple, but powerful.
Inspired, I’ve added a 15–20 min guided meditation to my mornings (just YouTube for now). Linking it to brushing my teeth is making it stick. Here’s hoping it lasts longer than the Monday veggies!
